Seven research and development projects led by the industry and universities have received funding support. These seven major projects will be committed to developing cost-effective "upgrade recycling" solutions, converting waste plastic films into more valuable materials, and designing new types of plastics that are easy to recycle and biodegradable.
This investment is beneficial for the Department of Energy to address the challenge of plastic waste recycling and support the Biden administration in establishing a clean energy economy to ensure that the United States achieves net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
